Project data is processed in ISO 27001-certified data centres in Germany, and within the European Union for optional integrated AI services.

KERNWERT supports GDPR-compliant study processes through Privacy by Design and a data processing agreement – in accordance with the requirements of the EU AI Regulation.

Data protection is part of product development.

KERNWERT considers data protection and security requirements from the initial design through the ongoing development of the platform. Privacy by Design is therefore part of the technical and organisational design, rather than a later addition.

Project data is backed up automatically every day. Project managers can initiate additional backups when needed.

Participant communication, team coordination and access to results can take place directly within the protected platform.

Accessible participation

The participant interface supports accessible studies in accordance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA and the requirements of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG).

No manual uploads to external tools.

Transcription, translation, moderation assistance, Quality Score and analysis are available directly in KERNWERT Studio. This eliminates the need to transfer sensitive research data manually to separate applications.

Processing for integrated AI services takes place within the European Union. Project data is not used to train the AI models.
